A leading infrastructure company called “Infrastructure and Energy Alternatives, Inc.” announced one of its subsidiaries. White Construction will build a $44 million, 60 MW utility-scale wind farm in Riverside County, California. The project is expected to commence in the first quarter of 2022, with targeted completion by the first quarter of 2023.
The project comprises:
- Fifteen wind turbines
- Two substations and meteorological evaluation towers (METs)
- An underground electrical collector system
The parent company IEA will build these engineering facilities.
California: Second-largest Wind Energy Producer in the Country
California is the second largest producer of wind energy in the country. The state currently operates 6,000 MW of installed capacity across more than 120 projects. The total investment in the state’s wind energy programs is $12 Billion.
This is not surprising, as California braces itself to procure 60% of its energy demand from renewable sources by 2030.
“California remains at the vanguard of the clean energy transition, a state committed to investing in cost-competitive renewable energy sources,” stated JP Roehm, CEO of IEA. “IEA is proud to partner with California in its mission to develop a world-class network of sustainable, reliable energy systems that both reduce carbon emissions and foster economic development.”

Windfarms
The global wind energy industry grew by more than 53% from 2019 to 2020, and investment in offshore wind totaled $303 billion in 2020, said the Global Wind Energy Council, an international trade association. With a big push towards renewables and sustainable energy sources, we also covered a few startups challenging the status quo in the energy industry.
