With $40M in Cash Reserves, the City of San Bernardino Exits Bankruptcy: The City of San Bernardino was declared bankrupt in 2012. After a decade-long struggle, on Thursday, September 8, 2022, the City exited bankruptcy. San Bernardino had a cash shortfall of $18.2 million and a budget shortfall of $45.8 million when the city declared bankruptcy in 2012. Now the City has $40M in cash reserves.

The Forbes Magazine Features University of California, Riverside Among America’s Top Colleges: According to Forbes magazine’s list of top universities, UC Riverside is the No. 33rd public institution. Due to the great culture and top-notch graduate and undergraduate programs, many UC campuses and 17 other universities, including UCR, made it to the top 50.

As Breeze Airways Adds a Daily Flight to San Francisco, San Bernardino Airport Expands Operations: With extra passenger flights on Breeze Airways, SBD can now meet the air transportation needs of the Inland Empire region by providing commercial passenger service, air cargo, corporate and general aviation, as well as maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO).

Pacific Western Bank to Sponsor Venture Program of Alliance for SoCal Innovation: The nonprofit Alliance for SoCal Innovation, which supports Southern California’s startups, announced that it had agreed with Pacific Western Bank to serve as the venture program’s principal sponsor.

Shein Clothing to Open a Massive Distribution Center in the Inland Empire: The fast fashion company Shein is establishing a 1.8 million square foot distribution center in Cherry Valley, an Inland Empire city in 2023. Establishing the center here may bring many unique opportunities for workers and boost Inland Empire’s labor ratio.

Think Tank Third Way Ranks CSUSB in Top 10 for Economic Mobility Index: Six California State University campuses made the top 10 in an Economic Mobility Index (EMI) assessment by the national Think Tank Third Way, with Cal State San Bernardino coming in at No. 8.
