On the Forbes list of 500 private and public colleges, UCR ranked 84th. MIT led this year’s ranking, with Stanford and UC Berkeley in second place. Families with annual income under $65,000 receive Pell Grant. It’s the most extensive government grant program available to undergraduate students.

Rankings are Given Based on Graduation Rates, Salaries, and Low Debt.

The Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System, or IPEDS, and the College Scorecard are two federal databases included in the Forbes list’s method and many other databases used to estimate graduates’ earnings.

If students completed their education on schedule, received high wages, had little debt, and moved on to successful jobs, the schools would do well.

Forbes now uses a new criterion to measure how soon graduates could pay off the cost of education. UCR also received rankings based on how it served low-income students in 2021.

These changes allowed Forbes to reframe its data to assess alum wages.

The incomes of a university’s graduates account for 20% of its rating, 10% of student retention, 10% of academic success, and 15% of inclusion in Forbes’ various prestige lists, such as Forbes Under 30, Forbes 400, Richest Self-Made Women, and Most Powerful Women. The latter measures cost-vs.-earnings compared to high school graduates. 15% on graduates’ debt, 15% on graduation rate, and 15% on Return on Investment.
