5 main Highlights from the address

The following five points were covered in Lock Dawson’s speech:

Economic expansion

To draw, grow, and maintain business in Riverside, the mayor added, “we must be intentional in our activities, and we are doing just that.”

In the past year, the city issued approximately 23,000 company permits.

The well-being of the community

Lock-Dawson cited the city’s assistance with infrastructure and public safety initiatives, including the paving of nearly 25 miles of roads last year, the installation of roughly 160,000 square feet of new sidewalks, the filling of 127,000 square feet of potholes, and the trimming of more than 18,000 street trees.

A $300M private investment from the sci-fi company will deploy 9 million feet (almost 2000 miles ) of high-speed fiber internet citywide. This mission will bring broadband to every doorstep in Riverside to bridge the digital divide and dramatically increase the internet’s speed in neighborhoods and businesses.

Education

Lock Dawson emphasized the successes of Riverside’s four postsecondary institutions.

She claimed that “all of them are improving the amazing workforce pipeline here in Riverside.” “By providing essential business resources, leveraging our agricultural legacy with startup incubators, and innovating with renowned research operations,” the statement reads.

Finances

She claimed that after previously “functioning in a reactive mode due to strained financial resources,” the city now has strong financial standing.

According to Lock Dawson, general sales tax receipts have increased by more than 30% since 2019, and Riverside is now “living within our means” and making plans for the future.

People

Lock Dawson complimented the city’s citizens and nonprofit organizations.
