Popular TV Series ‘Destination LA’ Features Riverside Startup Kids that Code

  • Riverside-based Kids that Code was featured on TV Series “Destination LA”.
    -Kids That Code Education Center is in Riverside, California, offering technology-focused programs and curricula for children of all ages, including programming, game development, robotics, electronics, and 3-D character design.
  • The center’s grand opening attracted around 85 people, including CSUSB Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs Shari McMahan, who praised the KTC founders for their dedication and hard work.

Ag Tech Innovations in the Inland Empire

  • From the Land is a sustainable ag tech innovation company in California that developed a data capture, power, and lighting system to operate off the power grid, with a demonstration project growing mealworms sustainably.
  • The company received a $10,000 Dream Fund grant and a $100,000 America’s Seed Fund Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program Phase 1 grant, enabling them to build a second roof for the prototype, purchase additional mealworms, and purchase batteries to convert to entirely off the grid.
  • The Land plans to sell its farming structure and system on a 10-foot by 12-foot scale for consumers to set up at home.

  • Riverside, California, ranked 13th in the Biz2Credit annual Top 25 Cities for Small Business Study 2023, reflecting the thriving small business economy in the city.
  • The leading industries among the top 25 metropolitan cities in the study were Other Services (except Public Administration), Retail Trade, and Construction.
  • The study showed that the average revenue for small businesses increased from $376K in 2021 to $441K in 2022, indicating a rebound in the small company economy since the pandemic.

Maximizing Electric Bill Savings with Southern California Edison’s Demand Response Programs

  • Southern California Edison’s Demand Response programs offer incentives for customers to conserve energy during the summer months or program events called when the power supply is limited.
  • Customers can earn bill credits by participating in one of SCE’s three Demand Response programs: Smart Energy Program, Summer Discount Plan, and Power Saver Rewards.
  • Each program has different requirements and offers additional incentives, such as one-time sign-up credits, annual bill credits, and summer bill credits.
