Caravanserai Project Gets $2M Grant: Hosts Pitch Competition and Graduation On May 26, 2022, Startempire Wire hit the road to attend the Caravanserai Seed Cohort pitch competition and graduation. Representing our publication was our founder Verious Smith III. The Employment Training Panel of California awarded a $2 million grant to the Palm Springs-based Caravanserai Project to give training support and micro-grants to over 200 Spanish-speaking startups and early-stage businesses in the Inland Empire.
Bourns, Inc. Wins TTI Supplier Excellence Awards Bourns, Inc., a major producer, and supplier of electrical components, announced that it had won every prize category in the prestigious TTI 2021 Supplier Excellence Awards. Bourns is the first supplier to get the TTI Diamond Award in all three of TTI’s operational zones, including the Americas, Europe/Middle East/Africa, and Asia.
Murrieta Innovation Center to Host “Evening of Innovation”: A Showcase of Life Sciences Start-Ups On Tuesday, June 14, from 5:30 PM-9 PM, the Murrieta Innovation Center (MIC), Impact Southwest Riverside County (Impact SWRC), and other partners will present the second Evening of Innovation at South Coast Winery. This event will feature presentations from 12 life sciences startups currently incubating at the MIC.
Fender Guitars Expands Inland Empire Operations: Doubling Down on Manufacturing in Corona, CA Fender Musical Instruments Corp. (FMIC) expanded its operations in Corona with a new facility that provides another 100,000 square feet of space, owing to rising product demand. The City of Corona announced that FMIC, the world’s largest guitar maker, marketer, and distributor, is expanding into a new location in California, creating hundreds of new job opportunities for Corona’s skilled workforce.
California Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) announce 78 grants totaling $35.5M GoBIZ announced 78 grants totaling $35.5M in awards through the California Community Reinvestment Grants (CalCRG) program! This latest round of awards will support the economic justice and well-being of communities across our state that have been disproportionately impacted by the War on Drugs.
iMAKE Innovation Center is a maker space in Moreno Valley, CA. It is a community of makers, tinkerers, and hackers who come together to inspire each other, share knowledge and collaborate on projects. They aim to provide a space for people to come together to learn new skills and explore their creativity with electronics, robotics, woodworking, and more. The members are from all over the world and have diverse interests ranging from radio-controlled vehicles to 3D printing.
