  • Fontana received a $3 million grant from Assembly Majority Leader Emeritus Eloise Gomez Reyes.
  • The city will use the funds for its Downtown Revitalization project.
  • The project includes the completion of the San Sevaine Trail. It will become part of the regional Pacific Electric Trail, which runs east-west from Claremont to San Bernardino.

In the Inland Empire region of Southern California, Fontana City is set to undergo a significant transformation. With the support of Assembly Majority Leader Emeritus Eloise Gomez Reyes and substantial state grants, Fontana is investing in developments that promise to enhance the quality of life for its residents.

Let’s explore the exciting projects receiving state funding, their impact on the city, and why these initiatives are crucial for Fontana’s future.

The Ambitious Mixed-Use Endeavor

Fontana’s ambitious Downtown Revitalization project is at the forefront of its urban transformation. Spearheaded by a $3 million grant from Assembly Majority Leader Emeritus Eloise Gomez Reyes, this initiative aims to boost housing, job opportunities, and entertainment choices in the city’s central business district. The revitalization project embodies Fontana’s commitment to preserving its rich history while striving for a brighter future.

State Grants for the North-South Bicycle and Pedestrian Trail

Two separate state grants, totaling nearly $2,967,897, have been allocated to develop a north-south bicycle and pedestrian trail adjacent to the San Sevaine Flood Control Basin along the maintenance road.

This trail, commencing at the Pacific Electric Trail Trailhead in Fontana and extending north to Banyan Street in Rancho Cucamonga, is a joint effort between the two cities.

The primary goal is to provide a safer pedestrian route to Etiwanda High School and integrate this segment into the broader Pacific Electric Trail network, which spans from Claremont to San Bernardino.

Fontana and Rancho Cucamonga Collaboration

The collaboration between Fontana and Rancho Cucamonga to secure funding for the north-south bicycle and pedestrian trail will benefit the two communities. Both cities are working together to address the growing concerns related to public health by promoting exercise and creating healthier environments.

The project is set to commence this summer, and its completion is expected by the end of 2018, reflecting the urgency and dedication of the cities involved.

California State Support

The allocation of significant funds by the California State Department of Parks and Recreation and the Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee underscores the importance of these projects.

But what motivates the state to invest in these initiatives?

The answer lies in the broader vision of creating vibrant, sustainable communities and fostering economic growth. California actively supports projects that enhance connectivity, provide recreational opportunities, and promote a healthier lifestyle.

Takeaway

Fontana’s Downtown Revitalization project and the development of the north-south bicycle and pedestrian trail are shining examples of how strategic investments can rejuvenate cities and improve the lives of their residents.

With Assembly Majority Leader Emeritus Eloise Gomez Reyes and the state of California’s support, these projects are set to transform Fontana into a dynamic, healthier, and more connected community.

As Fontana takes these steps towards a brighter future, other cities in the Inland Empire region and beyond may find inspiration in their efforts to create thriving, well-rounded communities.
