Vetting and Evaluating Companies Seeking Resources through OTP
One of the most important duties the EIR will be tasked with is “vetting and evaluating companies seeking resources through Technology Partnership programs,” per UCR’s job advertisement.
10s startups apply to UCR’s Office of Technology Partnerships (OTP) to get resources like funding, space, and support for commercializing their tech startups. As a result, the EIR becomes the first point of scrutiny, vetting and evaluating those who qualify the best to obtain these resources.

As an EIR or Entrepreneur-in-Residence, the person acts like a mentor and advisor to these startups and has to ensure that founders need the best that the university and OTP offer for technology commercialization.
