UCR, or the University of California, Riverside, is looking for an Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR) to support the university’s program for technology commercialization and the creation of startups. The position is open until filled and offers a starting salary of $71K/annum with an upper slab of $137K per annum.

We have covered this in our Weekly Wire Roundup.

Vetting and Evaluating Companies Seeking Resources through OTP

One of the most important duties the EIR will be tasked with is “vetting and evaluating companies seeking resources through Technology Partnership programs,” per UCR’s job advertisement.

10s startups apply to UCR’s Office of Technology Partnerships (OTP) to get resources like funding, space, and support for commercializing their tech startups. As a result, the EIR becomes the first point of scrutiny, vetting and evaluating those who qualify the best to obtain these resources.

Assisting Early Stage Companies and Teams

A startup has many needs that accelerators and incubators must meet expeditiously, including team formation, marketing strategies, business development, and fundraising.

As an EIR or Entrepreneur-in-Residence, the person acts like a mentor and advisor to these startups and has to ensure that founders need the best that the university and OTP offer for technology commercialization.

The above details are based on the UCR job portal, which can be accessed here.

Proof of Vaccination
