The University of California, Riverside (UCR), a ten-campus member of the renowned UC system, houses UCR University Extension, specializing in continuing and professional education.
UCR University Extension has been an acknowledged leader in educational outreach on a global scale. The respected Academic Senate approves all UCR University Extension curricula.
UCR University Extension improves lives with innovative and learner-centered programs through its professional, international, instructor, and youth programs. Outstanding instructors who are passionate about their subject matter, possess excellent educational backgrounds, and have extensive professional experience teach the courses.
Each program is carefully created with the needs of all students in mind, emphasizing great content, flexibility, accessibility, and affordability. Students at UCR University Extension gain from engaging, goal-oriented experiences that prepare them for both short- and long-run.
Massive Open Online Courses from UCRX for edX Students
The international languages, mental health, and well-being topics covered in the courses of UCRX are all free for edX students to audit.
The courses UCRX will offer include:
- An English-Spanish language interpretation and translation course;
- An Arabic language for the business course;
- A course on mental health and well-being that emphasizes the dynamic capacity of the brain.
Concentrations in the three interpretation and translation courses will be in the legal, educational, and medical fields.

UCR Enabling Students to Dive Deeper into Technology
Along with the new MOOCs, UCRX will keep providing its edX-affiliated boot camp programs in cybersecurity and coding. More than 300 students have completed boot camp programs at UCRX since they began offering them in 2018. Nearly 40 businesses, including JP Morgan and Infosys, have hired graduates.
“With this expansion of our partnership, UCR Extension is furthering its commitment to provide accessible and affordable education opportunities from a world-renowned university system,” said Andrew Hermalyn, President of Partnerships at 2U. “MOOCs establish an accessible entry point for people to begin their learning journeys and discover complementary programs, from additional MOOCs to MicroMasters® programs, on the edX platform.”
