Massive Open Online Courses from UCRX for edX Students
The international languages, mental health, and well-being topics covered in the courses of UCRX are all free for edX students to audit.
The courses UCRX will offer include:
- An English-Spanish language interpretation and translation course;
- An Arabic language for the business course;
- A course on mental health and well-being that emphasizes the dynamic capacity of the brain.
Concentrations in the three interpretation and translation courses will be in the legal, educational, and medical fields.
“The launch of our first MOOC courses on edX introduces UCR University Extension’s mission of preparing a new generation of innovative thinkers to become lifelong learners around the globe,” said Dr. Kevin J. Vaughn, Dean of University Extension and Professor of Anthropology at UCR. “We look forward to collaborating with the edX team to provide these affordable, accessible education opportunities.”
UCR Enabling Students to Dive Deeper into Technology
Along with the new MOOCs, UCRX will keep providing its edX-affiliated boot camp programs in cybersecurity and coding. More than 300 students have completed boot camp programs at UCRX since they began offering them in 2018. Nearly 40 businesses, including JP Morgan and Infosys, have hired graduates.
“With this expansion of our partnership, UCR Extension is furthering its commitment to provide accessible and affordable education opportunities from a world-renowned university system,” said Andrew Hermalyn, President of Partnerships at 2U. “MOOCs establish an accessible entry point for people to begin their learning journeys and discover complementary programs, from additional MOOCs to MicroMasters® programs, on the edX platform.”
On the edX platform, UCRX will develop its first Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). To make learning accessible for students, UCRX works with edX. Globally speaking, the University of California, Riverside Extension, is a pioneer in educational outreach.
