GattaCo, Inc., SiLi-ion, FarmSense, Inc., and Pharm Robotics qualified as four finalist teams in this year’s Riverside Angel Summit, competing for prize money of $100K. UCR media team shared that “the program officially kicked off on Sept. 6 and culminated on Dec. 22, when investors will select at least one winning team to receive their investment“.

In August this year, we shared the news of Riverside Angel Summit 2021 and the chance for startups to win a $100k seed investment. We wrote about the fund also.

The Citrus Seeds Fund LLC is a special purpose vehicle – (SPV), established annually to invest in a company, or companies, in conjunction with the Riverside Angel Summit. SPVs are subsidiary companies that are formed to undertake specific business purposes or activities”.

Four Startups Compete for $100K Angel Funding
As mentioned earlier, four startups were chosen as finalists, and one of them will get $100K in funding. The startups include:
1. Gatta Co
Gatta Co. is a startup that offers remote blood sample collection through at-home plasma collection, eliminating the need for the phlebotomist, cold-chain transport, lab tech, and centrifuge infrastructure.

2. SiLiion
SiLi-ion Inc. is a California-based C- Corp that produces additives enabling immediate improvement in battery performance. It has developed a silicon nanoparticle-driven lithium-ion battery. Its customers are the Li-ion (Lithium Ion) battery manufacturers allowing them to compete in high-energy segments with no incremental Capex.
3. Farm Sense
This startup has invented an intelligent insect sensor for agricultural pest management. We reported that FarmSense recently obtained an SBIR funding of $2.2M.

4. Pharm Robotics
Pharm Robotics has developed a robotic inoculation process for cattle.
This startup has solved for the problem of manual and time-consuming processes in keeping farm animals like Cows vaccinated and protected. It does it through patented technology to automate administering vital pharmaceuticals to farm animals.
Startempire Wire also reported about StarNav, a startup that obtained SBIR contracts from the U.S. Army, Navy, and Air Force. “The startup develops special navigation receivers to provide positioning without GPS. Its target customer is the Department of Defense (DoD). This is especially useful when facing GPS jamming and spoofing.”
