The Inland Empire Center for Entrepreneurship (IECE) at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB), published its 2022 Impact Report. We look at the economic impact of IECE and what other organizations have done to drive economic growth in the Inland Empire region.

IECE: A Driving Force

Since its inception in 1999, IECE has fostered entrepreneurship and bolstered small businesses within the Inland Southern California region. The recently released 2022 Impact Report vividly depicts IECE’s success, showcasing an impressive economic impact of over $534 million.

2022: A Year of Remarkable Growth

Despite economic challenges, IECE continued to thrive in 2022, posting a net positive contribution of more than $129 million. This remarkable achievement represents a $50 million increase compared to the previous year, solidifying IECE’s position as a catalyst for economic growth.

The Ripple Effect of Empowerment

IECE’s Director, Mike Stull, emphasizes that the figures in the report only scratch the surface, failing to account for the ripple effects throughout the region. Stull states, “We are thrilled our programs continue to impact entrepreneurship in the region.” IECE’s influence extends beyond numbers; it empowers dreams and ignites economic transformation.

A Multifaceted Approach

IECE’s multifaceted approach to entrepreneurship support includes a wide range of programs and initiatives, each catering to the region’s diverse needs. These include:

  • Catapult Growth Network + Catapult Mastermind: These programs provide entrepreneurs with a collaborative ecosystem, fostering growth and innovation.
  • Financial Fitness Bootcamp: 4-Day Small Business Training: This bootcamp equips entrepreneurs with crucial financial literacy, enabling them to make informed decisions.
  • The SBDC Center for Contracting: Facilitating access to government contracts, this program expands opportunities in the public sector.

IECE’s Commitment to Inclusivity

IECE’s dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion ensures that its resources and support reach all business owners, irrespective of background. This commitment reflects IECE’s resolve to guide businesses through the post-pandemic landscape and beyond, promoting a vibrant and inclusive entrepreneurial community.

Collaborative Efforts: A Synergistic Approach

IECE’s success is magnified when viewed in conjunction with the collaborative efforts of other organizations in the Inland Empire. Several entities have also played vital roles in bolstering the region’s economic growth.

  1. Inland Empire Economic Partnership (IEEP): IEEP has been instrumental in fostering collaboration between the public and private sectors, focusing on critical infrastructure, workforce development, and innovation.
  2. Riverside County Workforce Development Board (WDB): WDB has been instrumental in connecting job seekers with opportunities and businesses with skilled talent, promoting economic stability in the region.
  3. Inland Empire Small Business Development Center (IESBDC): Complementing IECE’s efforts, IESBDC offers many resources, including expert guidance and training, to small businesses aiming to thrive in the region.

Wrap up

The Inland Empire Center for Entrepreneurship is a shining example of how entrepreneurship can transform a region. With a legacy of prosperity, a commitment to diversity, and a vision for the future, IECE continues to catalyze economic growth in the Inland Empire.

However, it’s essential to recognize that IECE’s success is not an isolated phenomenon. Collaborative efforts from organizations like IEEP, WDB, and IESBDC have played pivotal roles in shaping the economic landscape of the Inland Empire. These entities work synergistically to empower dreams, ignite innovation, and create a vibrant and inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem.

As we celebrate the achievements of IECE in 2022, let us also acknowledge the power of collaboration in driving economic growth setting the stage for a prosperous future in the Inland Empire region.
