Mayor of Palm Springs, California, Lisa Middleton, will deliver the annual State of the City speech on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at the iconic Plaza Theater in downtown Palm Springs, one of the city’s most important historical buildings and architectural treasures.
About the State of the City Event
The Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce is hosting the event, which will begin at 6 p.m. with a video and update from Mayor Middleton and the City Council, highlighting successes and milestones in respective districts during the last year. In addition, former Councilmember J.R. Roberts, Chairman of the Plaza Theatre Restoration Committee, and Councilmember liaison Geoff Kors will update the business community on the Plaza Theatre restoration’s ongoing fundraising efforts.
Following the presentation, the Chamber of Commerce will honor four community individuals who positively impact Palm Springs. The awardees for this year are:
- The Community Leadership Award is given to Linda Barrack, Martha’s Village and Kitchen CEO.
- Community Appreciation Award is given to Greg Rodriguez, Government and Public Policy Advisor in Riverside County Supervisor Manuel Perez’s office.
- Economic Development Award is given to Scott White, CEO of Visit Greater Palm Springs.
- PS I Love You Award was given to Geoff Kors, a Palm Springs City Councilmember and Chamber of Commerce liaison.

Tickets are $80 each and include reserved theatrical seating and admission to a reception at Il Corse Palm Springs, 111 N. Palm Canyon Drive, across from the Plaza Theatre, 125 S. Palm Canyon Drive, beginning at 5 p.m. Visit pschamber.org to register.
Additionally, FREE tickets at the Plaza Theater will be available for public members who do not choose to attend the State of the City event. Residents may watch the program throughout May on the city’s YouTube site and Palm Springs Community Television.
