The Youth Summit
350 high school students from the Inland Empire region recently participated in the SoCal Youth Futures Summit. The event was held at the University of California, Riverside, where the students could envision their future and plan the steps they need to take to achieve their goals.
The event took place on February 10th and was organized by UCR’s Center for Social Innovation and the California 100 initiative. The summit featured townhall type talks from several elected officials, including California Assembly members Corey Jackson and Sabrina Cervantes and U.S. Congress Representative Mark Takano.
101 Career Planning Skills
Through this event, the students learned the importance of setting goals and creating a plan to achieve them. They gained valuable insights into what it takes to succeed and were inspired by the success stories of the speakers. Overall, the SoCal Youth Futures Summit was an empowering and educational event that will help these high school students achieve their dreams and create a brighter future for themselves.
Event Designer
The SoCal Youth Futures Summit was co-designed and led by Fatima Nelson and Eric Calderon, staff at the Center for Social Innovation, operated out of UCR’s School of Public Policy. The California 100 initiative is a sponsored project at the University of California and Stanford University, with UCR public policy professor Karthick Ramakrishnan as its executive director.
