Ontario, California – Ontario International Airport (ONT) announced a significant expansion in its flight offerings, with Southwest Airlines initiating daily nonstop service to Nashville International Airport (BNA) starting June 4, 2024. This new route, already open for bookings, signifies a continued partnership between ONT and one of America’s largest airlines.

He highlighted the service’s dual benefits–offering Tennessee visitors a gateway to Southern California and the Inland Empire and providing residents in the region with easy access to the East Coast and Southeast.

Ontario International Airport: A Rising Star in California

ONT’s new service to Nashville is the latest in a series of milestones for the airport. Recently, Ontario International Airport stood out in the J.D. Power 2023 North America Airport Satisfaction Study, earning the highest score among California airports.

The study evaluated factors like terminal facilities, arrival/departure experiences, baggage claim efficiency, security checks, and the quality of food, beverage, and retail offerings. This recognition underscores ONT’s commitment to providing a superior travel experience.

The Economic Catalyst: Ontario International Airport

ONT, renowned as the fastest-growing airport in the United States, is a critical economic driver for Southern California. It is a vital regional hub in the Inland Empire, approximately 35 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. The airport’s strategic location and full-service capabilities, including nonstop commercial jet service to major U.S., Mexico, Central America, and Taiwan airports, make it a cornerstone for regional growth.

Ontario Airport’s Role in Regional Economic Growth

Further research into Ontario Airport’s impact on the regional economy reveals several critical areas of influence:

  • Tourism Enhancement: Adding new routes, like the ONT to Nashville service, significantly boosts tourism, bringing in more visitors and revenue to the area.
  • Business and Trade Opportunities: ONT’s expanding flight network facilitates business travel and trade, connecting local businesses with national and international markets.
  • Job Creation: The airport’s growth directly and indirectly contributes to job creation in the region, spanning from airport operations to hospitality and services sectors.
